Utah Mountains Room Mural
We arrived in Utah expecting a winter of snow sports. Utah had other plans — under 3 inches of snow all December. So Angelina and I drew a mountain range on her wall instead.

On December 14th, 2023, Angelina and I arrived in Utah, looking forward to a winter of great snow sports in that fluffy Utah powder. But the goddess of climate change did not smile on us — Utah saw less than 3 inches of snow in the entirety of December 2023. So we had to find something else to do.
Secretly, I was happy about this. My Southern Californian body has been conditioned to the point where it quivers at the thought of low temperatures and eternal winter. Even on 55°F bouldering days, you can find me lethargically lounging on the rocks, soaking up sunlight like a lizard.
So my restless mind went looking for fun projects to do with Angelina — since graduating, she and I rarely get week-long stretches of quality time. One day, doing yoga at Momentum Mill Creek, I looked up at the studio's mural of the Little Cottonwood mountain range and got inspired.
Why not do a mural for her room? Within three hours we were planning it out with pencils and erasers, pulling up photos of beautiful mountain ranges and interesting creatures to tuck into our mountains.
The whole mural — done entirely in markers — took us five days from planning to finished piece. Here's the final product.
